As some of you have probably noticed, GoodGuide has undergone a few changes. Here’s a walkthrough that’ll help you find what you need and make the most out of our new features.
Don’t worry. Still at the heart of the site are the science-based ratings we’ve developed over the past three years. We’ve just made it easier to get to categories you want to search by putting category links at the very top of the homepage (1). You’ll also be able to find subcategories much more easily, as the most popular ones are now front and center on the homepage (2).
Next, we’ve added several features that give you, our users, the opportunity to highlight the product switches you’ve made and to see how others are switching. you can see what people are scanning right now using the GoodGuide iPhone app (3). (If you want your scans to show up, simply download our free app and start scanning.) We’ve also created a section that’s by the people, for the people to help you find community recommendations (4). Here you’ll be able to see which products people recommended or avoided. You can affect what shows up in this section of our homepage by sharing your opinions about products. In addition, you can find active GoodGuide users who are top contributors to the community section of the site (more to come on this in a future post).
Finally, we’re interested in recognizing individuals who are sharing meaningful information with the GoodGuide community because you’re really the ones influencing the marketplace. If you’re helping your family, friends, and colleagues find healthier, safer, more ethical products, we think your voice should be heard. We’ve made it easier for you to share product opinions with not only your friends, but the entire GoodGuide community, through Facebook (5).
Moving on to the product page: While the layout for product pages have changed, you’ll find all the original information is still at your disposal. However, it’s now clear to compare a product against other similar products (6). Plus, it’s easier to drill down for full product ratings because you don’t have to go to a new page (7).
Here too, we’ve made it easier for you to tell others your thoughts, under the “Tell Us What You Think” section (8). Remember, opinions you share in this section influence what shows up on our homepage!
