The team at GoodGuide has been working incredibly hard over the last several months to respond to input from our users on ways to improve GoodGuide. Based on this input, and several rounds of one-on-one user interviews, we are rolling out a suite of new features, new pages, and a redesign of the website to create a simpler and more personal user experience.
First, we are launching new and improved product, brand, company, and category pages. We have added content that users have been requesting such as ingredients of concern on category pages, and corporate ownership structures on brand pages.
Second, we are launching a set of features designed to help personalize the GoodGuide experience. We heard loud and clear that people want quick and simple advice on products that match THEIR values. This actually requires some help from you. In order to provide personalized advice on products, we need our users to tell us a little about what they care most about. We have created a very simple registration form that is the start of a process to better tailor our information to YOU. I really hope you will try this out, tell us a little about yourself, and then enjoy more personalized recommendations on products and companies that match YOUR values.
We have also improved our search filtering and sorting tools and allowed you to save your preferences. For example, you can search for breakfast cereals with low-sugar, save this preference, and then in the future always screen food products for their sugar content.
Third, a number of users asked us to create simple tools to help you track your favorite products, and to share these lists. Today, we are launching new list creating tools, and the ability (only if you opt-in) to make your lists public. Check out some of our staff’s favorite products.
Finally, we are rolling out several tools that enable people to track when they switch between products, and then to share these “switches” with their friends. So when you find a product that is safe and healthy, or that works great, we encourage you to proudly share that you’ve switched. I am personally really excited to learn about products my friends and colleagues are switching to so I can try them out as well.
